Lady Bulldogs to make up postponed game with South Carolina in six days

The game, postponed on Jan. 7, is rescheduled for Jan. 21.

Georgia is quickly headed back to Colonial Life Arena after originally seeing its contest against South Carolina become postponed.

According to a Friday morning release by the SEC, Georgia will travel to Columbia to face the Gamecocks on Jan. 21. The game will tip at 6:30 p.m. and be televised on the SEC Network.

Georgia’s opening to play the rescheduled game comes during a bye week between games on Jan. 17 against Ole Miss and Jan. 25 vs. Arkansas. Both of those games are at Stegeman Coliseum, but now the Lady Bulldogs add a quick road trip. The SEC gave teams two off weeks in its schedule to accommodate for schedule changes with Covid-19.

Georgia also has an opening between Feb. 4 and Feb. 11.

South Carolina had to postpone the originally-scheduled game due to a combination of positive Covid-19 tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantines. Georgia had already arrived in Columbia by way of bus when learning of the postponement.

“(Georgia head coach) Joni (Taylor) has been good with telling us about how we need to be flexible this season,” junior guard Mikayla Coombs said. “You never know what's going to happen. I think coach Joni's mentality has helped a lot with this season.”
